Communications Specialist

Michael began working at CVNM on April 1, 2020, after two years at the NM Environmental Law Center and nine years with Amigos Bravos, with a few years consulting in between. He was born and raised in the California Bay Area, except for three years in Japan as a young child. He has also lived and worked in Norway, Germany and Brazil. He has a Bachelor degree in American Studies from UC Santa Cruz.

While working in Washington, DC, he met his eventual wife and they moved to Albuquerque so she could further her education. As many who have found their way to New Mexico, the planned two-year stay has lasted nearly 33 years and their children are now grown and living in Italy and Brazil. Michael’s particular environmental passion is water – quality, quantity and (mis)management – and rewilding projects in the Albuquerque area. He likes to unwind reading and watching Scandinavian noir, walking along the Rio Grande (even when it’s dry), and working around the house.
