Hundreds of thousands of New Mexico schoolchildren breathe in toxic diesel fumes from school buses. Converting to clean electric buses that don’t spew exhaust would dramatically reduce our climate change impact and severe health issues like lung infections, bronchitis and wheezing. Dirty diesel causes more frequent, more intense asthma attacks in children and adults.
The best part? New Mexico already has $18 million in earmarked funds to offset diesel pollution. That’s enough to jumpstart the transition to clean electric school buses. This Thursday, CVNM Education Fund (CVNMEF) will join concerned mothers, youth, teachers and community leaders to rally and demand that the funds go into the clean bus transition. Juntos community leaders will travel up to Santa Fe to submit nearly 2,000 public comments to the record in support of the clean bus transition!
